Where Has The Summer Gone???
I know my blog has suffered this summer. I just couldn't fit it in with all the other things that have been going on. Lately our store has been taking up a bunch of my time. Shipments from CHA are rolling in and that requires unpacking, inventory, re-organizing etc. I am not complaining, I love getting new product for the store, but it does take a bunch of my time.
Then there are my 3 (oh, sorry 4) wonderful children........
Amanda has been taking a cake decorating course (actually courses) over the summer and that has meant many trips to the store to buy the necessary tools and groceries. She is having a blast learning all sorts of new things. Here are a few photos of some of her creations.
Cupcakes seem to be her favourite thing to do right now. One night, we had 75 cupcakes covering our kitchen island. They were all decorated beautifully, but how were we supposed to eat that many???? We farmed a few dozen out to the neighbours, and the boys and their friends were enjoying them as well. Needless to say, they all disappeared.
Jay has been working about 25 hours a week at the Galaxy. He keeps himself up to date seeing all the current movies with the movie passes he earns. He has still found lots of time to do other things too. David (the 4th child) and Jay have perfected their wake boarding skills along with learning how to knee board. They also manage to get in some 'extreme tubing' each time we head out on the boat. I am the official spotter and photographer, so this means many trips out on the boat myself.
Jay and David successfully acquired their G1's and have been driving all over the city. I have chauffeurs everywhere I go.
Matt has also been busy with his huge social network. He has a very wide circle of friends and he spends time with all of them. He has also been the neighbourhood lawn mower. When our neighbours are away on holidays they ask Matt to keep the lawns mowed and trimmed. He also mows our lawn and Monty's parents too. This definitely keeps him busy! He recently purchased a new TV for his room (along with a little help from us as a graduation present). He will be starting grade 9 in a couple of weeks. I know he is a bit nervous, but excited too.
Matt is a bit camera shy right now. Unless I am really sneaky......this is generally what I get. They aren't going to make for very interesting scrapbook layouts, but I will work with what I have.
Monty has been puttering away on the boat. There always seems to be something that needs adjusting, cleaning, tweaking........! If he is not there, you will find him visiting with a neighbour on our street or floating in the pool in the backyard.
We spend summer nights sitting on our front patio or in our backyard. This is where we stay connected and share what has been going on in our separate lives. I am so thankful that I have him in my life. We just celebrated (well it wasn't much of a celebration) our 21st anniversary.

My Break is Over.......
I cracked it open and read until 1:30am and then forced myself to go to sleep. I worked 16 hours yesterday and when I finally got into bed around 1am......I just had to read a few pages before I went to sleep.
Amanda started to read this book awhile back, and said she couldn't get into it. I am not very far in, but I am enjoying it already. I am really going to try and restrict my reading to 'before bed' so that I still get my 'jobs' done. Let's be real.....I am sure if you drove by my house you might see me outside, sitting in a chair with my nose buried in my book.......just maybe!

August Design Team Layouts
Cool Treats.....I posted this one already. I used it for a Little Red Wagon challenge.
Lovin' Summer........This is a scraplift from ljbridges (off of Two Peas). She is from Missouri. The basic layout design is the same, I used it as a sketch. I did use her pinwheel idea too. The rest is all me!
Thanks for looking!
Finished Another Book!
My scrapbooking has been suffering badly! My youngest son, Matt, keeps calling me a nerd. I am resisting starting another book for a week or so. I need to get caught up on some stuff.
My movie girls and I are wanting to see Eat, Love, Pray and we decided that we would all read the book first. I guess that will be my next one. I need to make a trip to Chapters to purchase it...........that could be dangerous. I used to go in there and buy nothing, but now???

Pretty vs Practical!
.............and then I start to think practically.........how do you turn this...................
...............into something pretty? I don't know about you guys, but when I start scrapbooking my desk looks like this in a matter of minutes. Everything I own ends up spread out all over and I end up with a 12x12 inch space to work. Then when I am done, I just get up and walk away. When I return to work on the next project, I quickly tidy up (only putting 1/2 the stuff away because I am wasting all my valuable scrapping time) and move on to the next project. The mountain of supplies keeps getting bigger and bigger and then it is just not pretty at all.
My conclusion is that no matter how pretty the workspace is, it all ends up looking the same in the end.
I ended up reading my book and hoping that the scrapbook fairy would come and tidy up my crafting mess..........

Movie Night!
It was Dianne's pick and she chose to see Charlie St. Cloud. Now, to be totally honest, I am not sure if she was really interested in seeing the actual movie, or Zac Efron! I was game either way, so I worked until 6pm and then dashed over to the Galaxy!
Here is the plot......Charlie St. Cloud is a young man overcome by grief at the death of his younger brother. So much so that he takes a job as caretaker of the cemetery in which his brother is buried. Charlie has a special lasting bond with his brother though, as he can see him. Charlie meets up with his brother (Sam) each night to play catch and talk. Then, a girl comes into Charlie's life and he must choose between keeping a promise he made to Sam, or going after the girl he loves.
Here is the trailer.....
I highly recommend you go and see it. The content is a bit young (heck, we were the only group of girls that were 40+ in the theater) but the story is amazing. In my research of this movie, I found out that there is a book!!!!!!! Yes, I know what you are thinking.......I don't read! But I do read, and I think I will be searching for this book to add to my collection.
After the movie we went to Williams to chat for a bit (this was the first time we did this and I hope it will be a regular part of our night out). We laughed so hard sometimes that I am sure the others in the building were wishing they were at our table.
It was a perfect night out with a very special group of my friends! Thanks ladies. I am adding a few extra photos of the star of the movie at the end of this post.......these are for Dianne! I have to make sure she keeps coming back to check my blog.......even if I don't post everyday!

Sorry For My Absence!
I have been a bad, bad blogger! I left for holidays on July 17th, and since then it seems that life has been super busy. While at the cottage, I started reading my first book. It was 464 pages of bliss!
I have been doing some boating too. My son and his friend took the wake board out for the first time since last summer and they had a blast! Lots of new photos (I will try to post some soon).
My laptop has been acting up and it is out of commission right now. Sucks to be me!
My mom and dad have been home from their travels for a bit, so I have spent some time visiting with them.
I attended CHA Summer with Joanne and we had a great time sifting trough all the great new products that will be arriving at our store very soon! That is something else that will be keeping me away from my scrapbook room.
Don't loose faith in me, I will return. Keep checking back......it could be sooner than later!
