Little Red Wagon #22

The sun is shining and the birds are singing! It is going to be a glorious day. Deanna issued the challenge over at Little Red Wagon this week and it is just the perfect fit for this week. She challenged us to do something 'Spring'.

Here is my take on the Spring challenge. I had coloured this image a while back using a stamp from Stamping Bella and I thought it looked rather springy! All the papers are leftover from a project at the store using the new Green at Heart from Basic Grey! Ribbon is from American Crafts.

Check out what the rest of the girls did with this challenge and be sure to make some time to play along.

Little Red Wagon #21

The sun is shining and we are expecting a high of 13 degrees here today. Spring is just around the corner and this challenge from Rosanne reminded me of Spring. Soft pastel colours and the warmth of this photo all reminded me of Spring.

Rosanne challenged us to get our inspiration from the above photo. I have been a little short on time lately and I haven't been spending much time in my craft room. I found this card that I had done at a class when I first started using my Copic markers. I thought is was perfect for this challenge.

Ella is one of my favourite Stamping Bella stamps! No matter how you colour her, she just turns out so cute. This was my first attempt at faces and hair. I was pretty impressed with the results.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team has come up with (just click on their names on my sidebar) and try to set aside some time to play along. Visit Little Red Wagon and link up your post.

Horray! Lots of Product Arriving!

We have been getting so many shipments that I haven't had much time for creating. My blog will likely be rather boring for the next month or so. We are busy planning for a Scrapfest, our Spring Retreat and National Scrapbook Day (well weekend in our store). We are also hosting Kick Off To Scrapfest crops this weekend as well.

Don't forget about me in my absence! I will return, I promise.

New Toys for my Kitchen!

I recently purchased a couple of new appliances for my kitchen. I don't really love to cook, but we do need to eat and I try to cook healthy meals. Our weekday schedule is often very busy. I don't arrive home much before 5:30 and sometimes it is after 6pm. If I have to teach a class then Thursday's is often a messed up mealtime. Jay has hockey on Wednesday nights plus we work around Amanda's schedule too.

I have always had a crock-pot, but it is a small one and it is over 20 years old. I updated mine with this Wolfgang Puck version with an automatic timer and more even heating. I can't wait to try it out.

I also purchased this Wolfgang Puck double-sided indoor grill. There is a grill on one side and a smooth griddle on the other. You just flip it over! I know that we will use this a lot. I still don't enjoy cooking, but this might help........just a bit!

Here is it, Wednesday again! I had a crazy day and didn't have time to post my take on Regan's challenge at Little Red Wagon. I just sat down now so here it is........

Regan challenged us to use Copic's. I love them, but I don't use them often enough. I made this card for my birthday stash using a stamp set that my mom gave me from Close to my Heart. I coloured each image with my Copic's and added a little bit of Stickles too!

Be sure to check out what the others posted. You can click on their names on my sidebar. Hope you find time to play along!

Homework!

So, Jay was home from school yesterday with a sore throat and a fever. He slept until 2pm and watched tv for most of the day. Around 9pm last night he came down from his room and said that he had some homework.

In his English class on Wednesday they had started to watch the movie Freedom Writers. Due to his absence on Thursday he was not able to finish watching it and they were going to have an assignment to complete. He said he had to watch the movie so when he returns to school he would be able to do the assignment.

We dug into our movie stash and pulled out the DVD. It started out that just Jay and I were watching. Amanda was at the kitchen table working on her homework and when she finished she joined us. Soon after that, Matt came down from his room and found himself engrossed in the movie as well. We had to send Matt to bed (he did not think this was necessary) so he missed the ending. Amanda hung in to the end and they headed off to bed as well. Jay and I discussed the movie after it was over and then we called it a night too. My hubby was working late and missed the whole thing.

I told Jay that if he ever need help with homework like this, I would be happy to help! If you have not seen this movie, I highly recommend it. Needless to say, all the plans that I had for the evening were set aside. It means I have an extra long list for today, but it was worth it!

Little Red Wagon #19

Another great challenge was issued today over at Little Red Wagon! Avril has asked us to use fabric on our project! This was a bit of a challenge for me, but not in the way you might think. You see, I love this little fabric tree from Prima and I have had it in my stash for a little while. I have pulled it out several times but always put it back because I just couldn't part with it. If I used it, then it would be gone and I wouldn't have it in my stash anymore.

When I was digging through my stuff to find something for this challenge, I came across it again. I was excited at the idea of using it, but then I put it back in the package and tuck it away again. I rummaged around some more, but all I could think of was that perfect fabric tree. I pulled it out again and played around with some ideas, but never sticking it down so that I always had the option of putting it back in my drawer.

Once I had my card the way I wanted it, I finally decided that the tree had found a home. I even used the packaging as part of my background. Along with that I added some Prima lace trim that I stapled to my card using the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher (love this little tool). I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the white background. I added a brown button from Jillibean Soup and stamped the sentiment using one of my sets from PTI!

I absolutely love how my card turned out and it is just perfect for Avril's fabric challenge. I won't be giving this one away. It will go into my card stash and remain there for a very long time!

Design Team Reveal!

It is design team reveal time over at Two Scrapbook Friends! I am not officially part of the team, but I have been playing along with them this month and having a blast! I just love the challenge and I love to see how everyone uses the kit.

On my first layout I tried using a flourish stamp to create a border around my background page. I was nervous because I had completed the entire layout before I added he border......therefore if it didn't work out, I was in trouble. Thankfully it added just the right amount of softness and I was happy with the result.

The second layout I incorporated one of the challenges from our DT and it was to use fabric. I dug out the 'joy' title from Prima and it worked perfectly with the elements from the kit.

I created this card, trying out another technique by using acetate. I cut out the scallop and then embossed it using my Cuttlebug. I will be trying this again for sure!

I also attempted a project.......I made a mini pizza box. I decorated the top using inspiration from my friend Regan's card and added Stickles for a bit of sparkle.

I can't wait to get started with this month's goodies. Be sure to check out all the amazing designs by the other girls. They are sure to inspire you. If you want to play along you can purchase a DT kit of your own for only $19.99. It is packed with all sorts of products and you are sure to be inspired.

Little Red Wagon #18 - Felt

It is Wednesday and that means a new challenge over at Little Red Wagon! It is my turn to inspire everyone and I chose felt! It comes in all sorts of shapes, colours and sizes. It is warm and fuzzy and I want you to use it on your card, layout or project!

I used some felt flowers that I found in my stash. I dusted off my PTI Button Bits stamps for the stems and the sentiment. I tried out my Nestabilities for the frame and I love how it turned out.

Now break into your stash and see what you can come up with. Be sure to get some inspiration from the LRW girlfriends. You can check out their creations by clicking on their names on the sidebar.
