Sketch Support Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Sketch Support Blog Hop! I am so excited to be a part of this.....it is my very first blog hop, ever! Here is how it works........

The hop starts at the Sketch Support Blog! That is where you need to go first. You will find all the details you need there. After visiting the Sketch Support blog, you will hop from each design team members blog (the order will be mapped out for you) and get to know them a little better. They each have a little bio and a layout they have created using a sketch that was designed by Allison, just for this blog hop.

Leave a comment at each of the blogs and you will be eligible to win some fabulous prizes. I am sure that you will leave each blog with lots of inspiration and a few new cyber friends.

Here are a few things you should know about me.....
  • When it comes to paper crafting I am obsessed. It is one of the first things I think about when I wake up and one of the last things I think of before I go to sleep.
  • I usually create in my scrapbook room (a shared space with my hubby, although I think I technically have more space than he does) but you can find supplies in every room in our house.
  • When I am creating I must have: lots and lots of paper, distress ink, and my stitching supplies.
  • When I am not creating you can find me at the hockey rink or on my computer. In the summer I spend a lot of time outside. We also have a boat and I love to spend time on the water with my family.
  • When it comes to sketches I highly recommend them. They give you a place to start. It takes the guess work out of creating and allows more time to play with photos and embellishments.
And now the sketch..........

I am a huge hockey fan......especially where my son is concerned. I have done many, many layouts of his hockey over the years, but when I saw this sketch, I knew exactly what I was going to do. This layout is all about his name and his number.

I stuck really close to the sketch design. It really worked for my photos and the stars were perfect. I used felt stars and added buttons to the center of some of them.

I wanted my title to be his name! I added a large star to match the colours in his jersey!

Here is my journaling.......I know that he will appreciate this. Right below my journal strips is his jersey number.

I can see myself using this sketch again and again. I hope you find time to use it too.

Allison has generously provided me with an extra copy of her new sketch book (Volume #7) and I am going to give it away to one lucky visitor! Leave a comment and you will be entered into a random draw to win this sketch book for yourself! I will do the draw and post the winner on Monday, February 28th.

The next stop on your blog hop journey is Mireille! Enjoy the inspiration from her blog!

Photo Shoot!

It's time for my final project for the Jillibean Soup challenge at Sketch Support. Everyone on the design team was given the same materials and we were asked to create projects using the sketches for February.

My first project was the card that I created. You can see that here! My second attempt was the single page sketch. You can see the sketch on the Sketch Support blog.

I had some great photos of Amanda that I knew would work great with the sketch and the materials. Because of the cameras on the pattern paper I decided I would title the layout 'Photo Shoot'.

I used the journaling sprout, corrugated shapes and the cameras from the paper to create this embellishment cluster. The word 'shoot' was printed from the computer and then cut into little strips and tucked under the sprout to finish off my title.

The twine around the letter 'P' was not my original idea, but I loved it when I saw it and wanted to work it into my title.

I really enjoyed using the little cameras from the pattern paper as embellishments for my page.

Amanda just got her wisdom teeth pulled on Wednesday and she is not smiling much these days. I hope when she sees this layout on my blog it brightens her day.

A big thank you to Jillibean Soup for providing us with great materials for this challenge.

My New Kindle

I have gone from a person who never read a book from cover to cover in my life, to the owner of a Kindle! It arrived on Wednesday but I haven't used it yet. It is all charged up and ready to go, but I want to finish the book I am reading now.

I spent the afternoon reading and I am almost finished. There was a real twist to the story and I am anxious to see how it all wraps up.

My hubby has loaded quite a few books onto my Kindle and I have read the quick tutorial so I know the basics. I will let you know what I think when I start using it.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Monday's are my day off and Amanda is done high school now (waiting to start college in the fall). I used to have the day to myself and now she keeps me company. We usually do the grocery shopping together (much more enjoyable than doing it myself).

This past Monday was Valentine's day.....a special Monday. Around 10am I received a text from Jake (Amanda's boyfriend) to confirm our address. He was having flowers delivered for Amanda. Just before noon the door bell rang and this is what arrived.

How sweet! I can't believe how much Jake and Amanda remind me of myself and her dad when we were that age.

Aren't they beautiful?

The smell just filled the room!

There is no better feeling than to know that your daughter is loved and appreciated by someone she loves and appreciates. I hope they have a long and happy relationship, just like I have with her dad!

The Great Outdoors!

Today is my favourite sketch so far at Sketch Support! It is called a word collage. When I first received it I didn't have a clue what I was supposed to do with it, but with Allison's helpful guide along the sidebar I soon figured it out.

What is a word collage? It is exactly what it sounds like......a collage of words. I decided to use stickers to create my collage! You can see it on page 2 of my layout, beside the photo.

Here is a close up view.

The photos I used were taken this past summer on a hike in St. Jacobs. Although none of the photos had anything to do with fishing, I loved the stickers of the bear and the fox sitting next to each other. They reminded me so much of Jason and David. They are best buds and do everything together (I am the wise owl in the tree.....making sure they stay out of trouble).

Be sure to pop over to Sketch Support and check out this weeks sketch. Allison has a printable version of the sketch and also a colour printable of the word collage.

Extreme Golf

This week at Sketch Support they are showcasing the two-page sketch. I really enjoyed working with this one. I thought I would change things up a bit with the background and decided to use brads as the focus.

I found these stickers deep in my stash. I used them in clusters on my page and added some foam adhesive to give them some dimension.

My page wouldn't be complete without some sort of stitching, so I used it as a border and also for part of my title. I also used a sticker for the letter 'o' in golf!

Take some time and visit the Sketch Support website and check out the sketch and what the other dt members have created.

TSF Online Super Bowl Crop!

I didn't get very much time to scrapbook this weekend. I ended up working most of Saturday and I had to get groceries and go to Jason's hockey game today. The weekends always seem to go so fast.

I did do one layout for Sharon's Super Bowl Sunshine challenge. It started out as a double-page layout, but ended up being just a single. I struggled a bit to start, but in the end I was happy with the result.

Sorry about the image. I broke my camera and I had to use my phone and the lighting wasn't the best. You get the idea, I hope!

'U' Card

Sketch Support issued the design team a product challenge and we all received this fabulous package of products from Jillibean Soup! I was super excited to receive this in the mail and get started.

My first project was using this weeks card sketch. We were only allowed to use what came in the package plus basic supplies. This was a bit challenging so I had to put my thinking cap on.

I used one of the larger journaling sprouts and wrapped it in the baker's twine. I punched out a scalloped circle from one of the pattern papers and layered it on top. I added the letter 'U' and added a bit more twine.

The reason I chose the letter 'U' was so that I would have some flexibility when I wanted to add my sentiment. Things like U Rock, U are so sweet, Happy Birthday to U and U Make Me Smile are all possibilities.

I will reveal my other creations using this Jillibean kit over the next couple of weeks. Be sure to check out the Sketch Support blog for a chance to win a prize and check out all the DT creations using these products and the card sketch.

I also entered this card in the Little Red Wagon challenge this week. Be sure to check out their great submissions too!

I Just Love You To Pieces

Today I am being featured over on the Sketch Support blog along with a few other ladies from the DT. Be sure to stop over there and check them out. You can print out this weeks sketch and hopefully you will be inspired to make a card of your own.

I decided to flip the sketch and created my card vertically. I used a heart shaped doily as the backdrop on my card. I couldn't resist adding some stitching to the outer edge and the inner heart.

I haven't used my stamps in a while so I decided to pull them out and give them some attention. I love to paper piece and this was a perfect image to work with.

Ironically I used a sentiment that worked well with the paper piecing theme.

All the papers were from my scrap bin. I think they are from Pebbles Inc. The stamp is from Stamping Bella and I did use my brown Vintage Photo Distress Ink on this card too.

I also entered this card in the challenge over on the Cards blog. They were looking for cards using doilies!
